OnlyDeaf (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use the OnlyDeaf mobile app and related services for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

- Account and profile information: Name, email address, date of birth, account identifiers, username, display name, bio, profile photo, accessibility preferences, communication preferences, optional location details.
- Verification and safety information: Intro verification videos, review status, reports, blocks, appeals, trust and safety records, communications with support.
- Content and activity information: Posts, reels, threads, captions, comments, likes, saves, follows, messages, search activity, profile visits, feed interactions, notification preferences, event details and RSVPs, marketplace listings and transactions.
- Device and technical information: Device type, operating system, app version, IP address, diagnostic data, push notification tokens, location (only if you enable location features).

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account and profile
- Review intro verification submissions and keep the community safer
- Deliver social features such as feed, threads, reels, profile, search, messaging
- Personalize recommendations, search results, and discovery surfaces
- Operate event and marketplace features when you choose to use them
- Investigate abuse, fraud, policy violations, and security incidents
- Respond to support requests and service notices
- Measure reliability, improve performance, and maintain the app

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your information to:

How We Share Data, Automation, and Safety

3. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information:
- With other users according to your privacy settings and in-app actions
- With service providers that help operate OnlyDeaf
- With event hosts or marketplace participants for activities you choose
- When required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and the platform
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of assets

Service providers may include: Auth0 and Apple Sign-In (authentication), Convex (application data and APIs), Cloudflare R2 and Cloudflare Workers (media storage and processing), Firebase Crashlytics and Performance (monitoring), Giphy (GIF search where available).

4. AUTOMATION, MODERATION, AND SAFETY

OnlyDeaf may use automated tools to detect spam, classify content, support moderation, and improve discovery. Some news or informational content may be published by clearly labeled automated accounts. Automated systems support, but do not replace, human review for trust and safety decisions.

Intro verification videos and reported content may be reviewed by authorized admins or moderators to enforce our Terms, Community Guidelines, and safety processes.

5. DATA SECURITY AND RETENTION

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted transport, access controls, and restricted workflows for sensitive media.

We retain data as long as needed to operate the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies. Active account data is kept while the account is active. Deleted account data is removed or anonymized within a reasonable period, generally within 30 days, unless limited records must be kept for safety, legal, or dispute reasons. Temporary content and verification/moderation records may be retained as needed.

Your Rights, Children’s Privacy, and International Transfers

You may be able to:
- Access, update, or correct profile information
- Delete your account
- Control profile privacy, notification, and location settings
- Block and report other users
- Request support including accessibility accommodations

California residents may have additional rights to know, delete, and correct personal information. We do not sell your information.

7. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

OnlyDeaf is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly allow children to use the service and will remove accounts or info collected in violation of this rule.

8. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. We use safeguards as required by law for such transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If material changes are made, we will update the effective date and provide notice through the app or other appropriate channels.
